Sign up process and fees associated with Fall 2012 lacrosse. First: U.S. Lacrosse membership: Sign your child up to be a member of U.S. Lacrosse (governing body for the Utah Lacrosse Association). · Go to www.uslacrosse.org and click on “join/renew” on the left navigational menu. You will be given a membership number that you use in the next step. Existing players can “look up your member #” if you don’t remember it. · This is an annual membership which costs $25 and provides sports insurance. This is a requirement even if your child has medical insurance. · With the membership your child receives a monthly lacrosse magazine that is fun and helpful. Second: ULA membership: Register your child with the Utah Lacrosse Association (ULA). · Go to www.utahlax.org and click on "Register On-Line” on the left navigational menu. Youth lacrosse sign-ups will not be displayed until August 7, 2012. · ULA is responsible for running the youth leagues. · Storm (1st & 2nd grade) costs $70 · Lightning (3rd & 4th grade) costs $80 · Thunder (5th & 6th grade) costs $80 · Juniors (7th & 8th grade) costs $90 · This cost covers the officials, administrative fees to run the league, and reversible jersey/penny for each player. Third: Team Fees: Team fees will also need to be paid. · Team fees are $30 for Riverton Youth Lacrosse Fall 2012. · Once practices begin, your coach or team parent will inform you when these fees are due. · Fall team fees cover field rentals, team party, team lanyard, administrative and equipment (chalk, balls, and goals) costs. Equipment: Your child will need their own personal equipment. · Each player will need to purchase his own stick and mouth guard (a colored one that attaches to a facemask is best). · First time players can rent equipment (helmet, gloves, and pads) through the Utah Lacrosse Association at their office location 9509 South 500 West. Check their website for rental day. Be there early as rental equipment does run out. · If you need to purchase equipment, we recommend Tribal West LAX in Sandy (9860 South 700 East, Suite 6) or Face Off LAX (350 W. Andy Ave. -- which is 2250 S.). · We recommend buying a stick right away so you can practice throwing with a friend or playing wall ball. · Watch for deals at Sports Authority, Big 5, Play It Again Sports, eBay, and KSL.com. · If you have any questions about anything you find, just give us a call and we will do what we can to help you out. Other Info: Official practice begins August 20th. Games begin September 15th!
